Concerns at the dangerous state of the road at Hattonslap and Keillyford on the old Toll Road between Tarves and St Katherines near Barthol Chapel, have got action from the Aberdeenshire Council Roads team. Following residents concerns passed to Cllr Paul Johnston and local MP Malcolm Bruce, plans were put in place for the major repairs following the almost complete break up of the road following snow.
However, further delays from a second snow fall and ground conditions making work on the road difficult, meant that only this week (11th March) was work under-way.
“The road was clearly a danger and I am glad officials saw it as a priority to repair. It was disappointing to have further delays but low temperatures making working ineffective had a part to play” said Paul Johnston. ” I am glad the work is now under-way and its no small job. It is at least at the head of a gigantic and growing queue of roads repairs because of the winter weather. Something that is causing myself and colleagues huge concern on Aberdeenshire Council”
